Product Description
The Kubus 1525mm drop-in cold well is a refrigerated self-service display unit designed to sit flush within a countertop or servery surface. It holds four full-size 1/1 GN containers in a chilled island well, keeping refrigerated food and drink at the correct safe temperature throughout the service period. The superstructure is constructed from polished stainless steel and aluminium rectangular profiles, with flat toughened glass to the customer-facing side acting as a sneeze screen. Diffused lighting runs through the overhead gantry, which also carries an eye-level digital temperature display and a lockable control panel accessible from the operator side.
In a busy service environment, this unit is well suited to high-footfall counters where customers are serving themselves — hotel breakfast runs, staff restaurants, hospitality buffets, and food-to-go operations. The 24-hour operating capability means it can run continuously without intervention, and the chilled well maintains food core temperatures reliably during extended service periods. The condensing unit is underslung, with ventilation handled by the air grilles supplied, so the installation does not require a remote refrigeration plant or additional mechanical works beyond the electrical connection.
From an operational standpoint, several practical details make day-to-day use straightforward:
- Modular removable deck plates simplify cleaning between service periods
- An integral condensate water evaporator removes the need for a site drainage connection
- R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant reduces environmental impact and typically lowers running costs compared to older refrigerants
- The lockable temperature control panel prevents accidental or unauthorised adjustment on the customer side
- The unit ships with air inlet grilles, a lifting kit, and a 2m lead and plug top as standard
Installation requires a prepared countertop opening to the correct dimensions and a suitable electrical supply for the plug-top connection. At 136kg, the unit requires adequate structural support in the counter and appropriate lifting equipment during installation — the included lifting kit assists with this. The underslung condensing unit needs the air grilles correctly fitted to maintain airflow; restricted ventilation will affect performance and longevity. GN containers are not included and are sold separately.
This unit is a practical choice for operators running a self-service counter who need a built-in refrigerated display without the complexity of a remote refrigeration system. It works well in medium to high-volume hospitality settings. For very high-throughput sites or larger counter runs requiring additional GN capacity, a wider or higher-specification unit may be worth considering.
If you are specifying this as part of a new counter build or fitting it into an existing servery, our team are happy to talk through the installation requirements and confirm it is the right fit for your operation before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions
- No. The integral condensate water evaporator handles moisture internally, so there is no need to run a drain to the unit. This simplifies installation considerably, particularly when fitting into an existing counter where drainage provision is not already in place.
- The condensing unit draws and expels air through the grilles supplied with the unit. These must be correctly fitted and kept clear during operation — restricted airflow will reduce cooling performance and can shorten the life of the refrigeration components. The unit is not suitable for installation in a fully enclosed cabinet void without adequate ventilation provision.
- The unit is rated for 24-hour operation as standard, so it can run continuously without being switched off between service periods. This makes it practical for hotel environments or any operation where the counter remains active or needs to hold food overnight.
