Product Description
The Buffalo Slimline Food Warming Tray is a compact, countertop unit designed to hold food at safe serving temperatures during buffet or assisted service. It accepts a standard full-size GN 1/1 gastronorm pan, or a combination of smaller GN configurations such as two half-pans or three third-pans, giving operators flexibility in how food is presented. Gastronorm pans are sold separately.
In practice, this type of unit is most commonly found on self-service buffet counters, staff canteen service lines, and hotel breakfast stations where food needs to be held at consistent temperatures over an extended service period. The aluminium construction keeps the unit lightweight at under 4kg, making it easy to reposition between services or move into storage. Rubberised feet hold it steady on the counter during use.
Key operational advantages include:
- Digital temperature control with lock function to prevent accidental adjustment during service
- Full GN 1/1 compatibility, with flexibility for smaller pan combinations
- Lightweight aluminium build makes repositioning straightforward
- Low-profile slimline footprint suits counters where space is limited
- Simple to wipe down and maintain between service periods
Installation is straightforward — the unit runs from a standard 230V socket and requires no fixed installation or specialist commissioning. It is intended for countertop use only and is not a substitute for a bain-marie or heated gantry where food needs to be held over longer periods or at closely controlled temperatures across multiple pans simultaneously.
This warming tray is well suited to lower-volume service operations, occasional buffet functions, or as a supplementary holding unit alongside a larger heated service counter. For high-volume or all-day service environments where sustained heat retention across a wide range of dishes is required, a larger or more powerful unit may be a better fit.
If you are unsure whether this unit suits your service setup, we are happy to talk it through before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions
- It is best suited to shorter service windows such as buffet functions or breakfast service rather than continuous all-day holding. For operations requiring sustained heat retention across multiple dishes over longer periods, a bain-marie or heated service counter would generally be a more appropriate solution.
- The tray is designed to accommodate a standard GN 1/1 pan. It will also accept smaller configurations such as two GN 1/2 pans or three GN 1/3 pans, which can be useful if you want to serve a variety of dishes side by side. Gastronorm pans are not included and need to be sourced separately.
- No specialist installation is required. The unit plugs into a standard 230V socket and is ready to use on any suitable countertop. There are no water connections, gas supplies, or ventilation requirements to consider.
