Product Description
The Cambro Camshelving Basics Plus Add-On Unit is a four-tier plastic shelving unit designed to extend an existing Camshelving Basics Plus stationary bay. It is not a standalone unit — it shares a post with the adjoining section, which keeps the footprint compact while maintaining full load-bearing capacity across the combined run. Each add-on ships with one post kit, eight traverses and the shelf plates needed to connect to the next bay.
Vented shelf plates are the standard choice in most storage environments because they allow air to circulate freely around stored goods. This makes the unit a practical fit for walk-in chillers and freezers as well as ambient dry stores, where airflow around product can support consistent temperature maintenance and reduce condensation build-up on shelving surfaces.
In day-to-day operation, the shelving holds up well under the kind of consistent heavy loading that commercial kitchens place on storage systems. The plastic construction resists rust and corrosion — relevant in the damp conditions common to chiller rooms and dishwash areas — and individual shelf plates are removable and dishwasher safe, which simplifies deep-cleaning routines.
- Add-on units can be configured in straight, L-shape or T-shape runs to make use of awkward floor space.
- Shelf height is adjustable without tools, allowing the unit to be reconfigured as stock profiles change.
- The plastic construction eliminates rust risk, making it well suited to wet or refrigerated storage areas.
- Shelf plates are dishwasher safe, reducing the time needed for periodic deep cleans.
This unit is best suited to operations that already have Camshelving Basics Plus stationary bays in place and need to extend their storage run. It is not compatible with other Camshelving series. For higher-volume sites needing heavier-duty or mobile shelving solutions, other options in the range may be worth considering.
If you are planning a storage layout and want to work through bay configurations or quantities before ordering, the team is happy to help.

Frequently Asked Questions
- No — the add-on unit is designed to share a post with an adjoining Camshelving Basics Plus stationary unit and cannot stand independently. You will need at least one stationary bay in place before adding this unit to a run.
- Yes. The plastic construction is resistant to the damp, low-temperature conditions common in refrigerated storage, and the vented shelf plates are the standard choice for chiller and freezer environments where airflow around stored goods matters. It is worth confirming the floor loading and internal dimensions of the room before finalising a layout.
- Multiple add-on units can be linked in a straight run, or arranged in L-shape or T-shape configurations, without loss of weight-bearing capacity. The practical limit will typically depend on your available floor space and access requirements rather than a fixed maximum number of bays. If you are planning a larger installation, we can help you work through the configuration before you order.
