The deep plate format gives a reasonable well depth for dishes where a little sauce or dressing needs containing, without the plate becoming impractically heavy to carry.

Made from vitrified stoneware, these plates are built to withstand the daily rigours of commercial service — stacking, dishwasher cycling, and the general handling that comes with a busy cover count. Vitrified stoneware is denser and less porous than standard earthenware, which means it resists chipping and crazing better over time, and it holds heat reasonably well once warmed. That said, it is heavier than porcelain equivalents, which is worth considering for front-of-house teams handling high volumes at pace.
