Product Description
This Designline chilled deli drop-in is a refrigerated display unit designed to sit flush within an assisted service counter. It holds prepared foods — deli items, sandwiches, salads, and similar chilled produce — at safe serving temperatures while keeping them clearly visible and accessible to both staff and customers. The elliptical superstructure profile houses diffused illumination, a digital temperature readout, and a lockable control panel positioned on the operator side, so settings cannot be adjusted from the customer-facing side.
In a busy service environment, the unit operates on a 24-hour basis and maintains food core temperatures between -1°C and 5°C using an R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant — a refrigerant choice that carries a low global warming potential and typically reduces running costs compared with older refrigerant types. Recovery after door opening during peak service is reliable, and the underslung condensing unit keeps the display profile clean with ventilation handled by the air grilles supplied. The integral condensate evaporator removes the need for a site drain connection, which simplifies installation considerably.
From an operational standpoint, the design addresses day-to-day practicalities well:
- The front toughened glass panel tilts forward on a locking hinge, making cleaning straightforward at the end of service
- Modular, removable deck plates in the chilled well allow thorough cleaning without specialist tools
- Two toughened glass mid-shelves provide additional ambient display space within the superstructure
- Optional chopping boards can be fitted over the rear shelf to create a localised sandwich preparation area
- The unit ships with a 2m lead and plug top, air inlet grilles, and a lifting kit
Installation requires a suitable countertop aperture to accept the drop-in well, along with adequate clearance beneath the counter for the underslung condensing unit and its air grilles. At 170kg, positioning will require assistance and appropriate handling equipment — the included lifting kit supports this. No site drainage is needed thanks to the integral evaporator. The unit runs from a standard plug connection, keeping electrical installation straightforward, though the counter structure itself must be able to carry the weight.
This display is well suited to delis, cafés, hotel food service counters, staff restaurants, and similar assisted service environments handling moderate to high throughput of chilled prepared foods across a full service day. At 1525mm wide with a four-GN capacity, it suits operations needing a meaningful display footprint without requiring a full built-in refrigerated counter installation. For very high-volume operations with significantly larger display requirements, a wider or multi-section configuration may be worth considering.
If you are planning a counter build or refurbishment and want to discuss whether this unit fits your layout, refrigeration load, or service style, our team is happy to work through the details with you before you commit to an order.

Frequently Asked Questions
- No — the integral condensate evaporator handles moisture internally, so no site drain is required. This is a practical advantage when retrofitting into an existing counter where drainage would be difficult or costly to add.
- The unit needs adequate clearance beneath the counter for the underslung condensing unit and the air inlet grilles that are supplied with the display. It connects via a standard 2m lead and plug top, so no specialist electrical installation is needed. At 170kg, you will need appropriate handling support during positioning — a lifting kit is included.
- It is designed primarily for assisted service counters, where staff serve customers rather than customers reaching into the display themselves. The operator-side control panel, rear shelf prep space, and counter-drop-in format all reflect that service model. If your operation requires open self-service access to chilled produce, a different display configuration would be more appropriate.
