Product Description
The Designline 1525mm drop-in multideck is a refrigerated self-service display unit designed to sit within a countertop or servery structure. It combines a chilled open-front display with double-glazed rear hinged doors, allowing staff to restock from behind the unit whilst customers self-serve from the front. Three toughened glass shelves — each adjustable in both height and angle — sit above a full-width chilled well, giving operators a layered merchandising area across the full 1525mm span. Illumination is provided through diffused lighting in the elliptical gantry profile, which also houses a digital temperature display and a lockable control panel accessible from the operator side.
In a busy service environment, this unit is well suited to continuous operation. It is rated for 24-hour use and holds food core temperatures between -1°C and 5°C, making it appropriate for chilled prepared foods, dairy, and soft drinks where consistent temperature is a food safety requirement. The R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant keeps the refrigeration circuit efficient and carries a significantly lower global warming potential than older refrigerant types — a consideration for operators with sustainability commitments or sites subject to F-gas reporting. The underslung condensing unit is ventilated through air grilles supplied with the unit, so ventilation planning is straightforward provided the countertop installation allows adequate airflow beneath the deck.
From a practical standpoint, several design details reduce daily maintenance burden:
- Modular removable deck plates simplify cleaning underneath the shelves
- An integral condensate evaporator removes the need for a site drainage connection
- Each shelf has a front product stop and a 40mm ticket strip for labelling or pricing
- Double-glazed rear doors help maintain cabinet temperature during restocking
- The unit ships with air inlet grilles, a lifting kit, and a 2m lead with plug for a standard 13A supply
Installation requires a suitable countertop opening and clearance for the underslung refrigeration unit. At 207kg, the unit is substantial and the countertop structure must be built to support that load. Because ventilation relies on the underslung condenser, the counter void must remain clear — sealed or poorly ventilated counters will cause performance issues. The 13A plug connection makes the electrical installation simple, but the counter cutout and structural support should be confirmed before ordering.
This unit is a practical choice for cafés, deli counters, staff canteens, hospitality buffet serveries, and convenience retail formats where chilled self-service display is a key part of the service offer. At 1525mm it covers a meaningful product range without requiring the footprint of a full run of cabinets. For lower-volume settings a narrower drop-in may be more appropriate; for high-footfall retail environments where a greater product range or faster throughput is needed, a larger-format or higher-capacity unit may be worth considering.
If you are planning a counter installation or are unsure whether this unit suits your space and service volumes, the team is happy to work through the details with you before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions
- The unit is designed to drop into a freestanding countertop structure with a correctly sized cutout. The underslung condensing unit requires clear, unobstructed airflow in the counter void below — a sealed or restricted void will affect refrigeration performance. At 207kg, the counter must also be built to support the weight, so this is worth confirming with your joiner or shopfitter before the unit is ordered.
- Yes. The unit holds food core temperatures between -1°C and 5°C and is rated for 24-hour continuous operation, making it appropriate for chilled prepared foods, sandwiches, dairy, and soft drinks where consistent temperature maintenance is a food safety requirement. The adjustable shelf angles can also be set to present packaged product clearly to customers browsing the counter.
- R290 is a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant with a very low global warming potential compared to older synthetic refrigerants. For most operators, day-to-day use is straightforward — the system is factory-sealed and requires no routine refrigerant top-up. Any refrigerant work must be carried out by a qualified engineer, but this is standard practice for all commercial refrigeration regardless of refrigerant type.
