A Fresh New Service Kitchen: Behind the Scenes of a Recent Install
There’s something really satisfying about taking an empty or tired space and turning it into a kitchen that actually works for a busy team.
That’s exactly what we did recently for a hospitality client who needed their service kitchen completely upgraded. New kit, new layout, new surfaces, the lot.
Here’s a look at what went into the transformation.
Starting with What the Kitchen Needed
The aim for this project was simple: create a service kitchen that makes life easier.
The client needed reliable chilled storage, space for prepping and plating, equipment that keeps food hot without drying it out, and surfaces that are easy to clean and maintain.
So before anything was installed, we spent time understanding how the space was used day to day. That helped us design a layout that would actually support the flow of service rather than get in the way of it.
Custom Stainless Steel That Fits the Space
The room had some awkward shapes, so we built custom stainless steel benches and counters to make the most of it.
These included
• pass benches with heated gantries for plating up
• a handwash area with a sensor tap
• room for fridges underneath the counters
• sturdy shelving and worktops
• splashbacks and tapered corners to match the shape of the room
The result was a set of stations that feel solid, practical and built for real everyday use, not just showroom photos.
Chilled and Frozen Storage That Works Hard
A service kitchen needs chilled storage that you can rely on — no surprises, no temperature drops.
We installed an energy-efficient refrigerator counter and a compact undercounter freezer that both fit neatly into the new layout.
They’re easy to clean, fast to access and built to handle busy service without struggling.
Keeping Food Hot, Fresh and Ready to Go
To help the team stay on top of busy periods, we added two hot holding cabinets.
These are brilliant for keeping food at the right temperature without drying it out, which makes a huge difference when multiple orders are coming in at once.
They’re simple to use, consistent and ideal for a service kitchen setup.
The Finishing Touches
A kitchen isn’t just about the big pieces of equipment.
We also added:
• strong wire shelving for dry storage
• an LED fly killer to help maintain hygiene
• new safety flooring with coved edges
• UPVC wall cladding for an easy-clean, seamless finish
These details make the kitchen safer, cleaner and much easier to maintain over time.
Installation and Handover
Our team handled delivery, installation, final checks and staff handover.
By the time we were finished, everything was tested, set up and ready to go, with all the instructions and guidance provided on site.
The End Result
The finished space is a huge improvement — brighter, cleaner, easier to work in and built to keep up with a busy service.
With new stainless fabrication, reliable storage, solid hot holding equipment and upgraded surfaces throughout, the kitchen is now set up for smooth, efficient days ahead.
