Moffat D2RW Drop-in Refrigerated Well | Cold Display Unit

Product No: D2RWNG

Product Description

The Moffat D2RW is a drop-in refrigerated well designed to be installed directly into an existing or newly built counter structure. Rather than a freestanding unit, it supplies the working refrigeration component that sits within the counter itself — keeping food at safe chilled temperatures while remaining on display to customers. The range includes several configurations, including models with straight glass, flat glass, and double-stack gantry options, allowing operators to choose the profile that suits their servery layout.

In practice, these units are well suited to cafeteria lines, hotel breakfast counters, buffet serveries, and staff restaurant installations where chilled food needs to be held and displayed simultaneously. The drop-in format integrates cleanly into counters built from stainless steel, granite, marble, Corian, tile, or timber, making it a practical choice when the counter aesthetic matters as much as the function. Recovery from door opening or restocking is reliable enough to maintain consistent hold temperatures through a busy service period.

Key operational advantages include:

  • Integrates into existing counter structures without full counter replacement
  • Consistent chilled holding keeps food safe and presentable throughout service
  • Range of gantry and glass profiles to suit different display and visibility requirements
  • Standard 13A plug connection simplifies installation in most servery environments
  • Compatible with a wide range of counter materials and custom-built configurations

Installation is relatively straightforward provided the counter aperture is cut accurately to the unit's dimensions. The 13A plug connection removes the need for dedicated electrical supply work in most cases, though ventilation clearance should be confirmed before fitting — Size 2 models require straight-through front-to-back airflow, which needs to be accommodated in the counter design. Gantry glass on SL models is supplied flat-packed for on-site assembly. Gastronorm pans are not included and will need to be sourced separately.

This unit is most suitable for operators running cafeteria, buffet, or grab-and-go servery counters where chilled display needs to be integrated neatly into the counter surface. It is equally appropriate for a new-build counter project or a refurbishment where the existing counter structure is being retained. For very high-volume or extended-run applications, it is worth discussing whether a more heavy-duty refrigeration solution would be more appropriate for your setup.

If you're unsure which configuration suits your counter dimensions or service requirements, we're happy to talk it through before you commit to an order.
