Moffat VC5RW Versicarte Pro Refrigerated Cold Well Display

Product No: VC5RW

Product Description

The Moffat VC5RW Versicarte Pro is a refrigerated cold well servery unit designed for front-of-house food display in buffet, cafeteria, and servery counter environments. It holds five full-size GN trays across the well and uses Moffat's Polar Air Stream system, which circulates a continuous curtain of cold air across the food surface and recirculates it back through the unit, maintaining consistent chill temperatures without relying solely on contact cooling from below.

In service, the Polar Air Stream approach is a practical advantage. Cold wells that depend entirely on base contact can struggle to maintain safe temperatures once food is disturbed by service, or when GN pans are changed mid-service. The constant air circulation on the VC5RW helps manage surface temperature more evenly across the display, which is particularly relevant during extended buffet periods or high-footfall cafeteria runs.

From an operational standpoint, the unit offers several useful characteristics:

  • Accommodates various GN pan combinations up to 60mm depth, allowing flexible menu layouts
  • Available in a range of colours and finishes to suit different front-of-house aesthetics
  • Supplied as a base unit, with gantry options available separately to configure the display for your specific setting
  • GN pans are sold separately, allowing operators to select pan configurations to match service requirements

The VC5RW is supplied as a base unit without tray slide or gantry as standard. A range of gantry configurations is available — curved or flat, square, deli-style, and island formats, in open or closed variants, with or without mid-shelf, most of which come lit. Selecting the right gantry depends on your counter layout, sight lines, and whether the unit will be positioned against a wall or used as a free-standing island. These are worth discussing before ordering to avoid installation rework.

This unit is well suited to schools, hospitals, workplace restaurants, hotels, and high street cafeterias where chilled food display is a central part of the service operation. It works as part of a modular servery line alongside hot wells and heated counters. Operators with very high-volume continuous service, or those running extended service periods in warm kitchen environments, may want to consider whether a unit with additional refrigeration capacity would be more appropriate for their specific setup.

If you're planning a servery counter build or replacing an existing cold well, the team are happy to talk through gantry options, pan configurations, and how the VC5RW fits alongside the rest of your counter — give us a call or drop us an email before you order.
