Product Description
The Steelite Revolution Sandstone coupe plate is a 152mm side or starter plate made from vitrified china and finished with a hand-applied reactive glaze. The glaze is applied using a revolving brush motion, which means each piece carries subtle variations in colour and tone — the result of the firing process interacting with the glaze chemistry rather than a printed or uniform finish. No two pieces are identical, which is intentional to the range.
In a working environment, vitrified china is a practical choice. It is denser and more chip-resistant than standard earthenware, holds up well on pass counters and in commercial dishwashers, and maintains its appearance through the repeated thermal cycling that comes with busy service. The reactive glaze finish, while decorative, does not compromise the functional durability of the body.
The 152mm coupe format works well in several front-of-house roles:
- Side plates for table settings and bread service
- Starter or amuse-bouche plating where a compact footprint suits the portion
- Sharing and small plates menus where a relaxed, handcrafted aesthetic is part of the concept
- Dessert plating in casual or contemporary dining settings
Because each piece carries natural variation, operators should expect that plates within the same pack — and across reorders — will differ slightly in tone. This is characteristic of the range rather than a quality issue, but it is worth considering if absolute visual uniformity across covers is a requirement. The range is available in other formats and sizes, so it is straightforward to build out a coordinated table setting within the Revolution Sandstone collection.
If you are building a new table setting or adding to an existing cover and want to talk through quantities or format options, we are happy to help.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Because the Revolution Sandstone glaze is reactive and hand-applied, there will always be natural variation between individual pieces and across production batches. For most operators this is part of the appeal, but if you are matching into an existing cover, it is worth ordering a sample or discussing batch availability with us before committing to a larger quantity.
- Yes. Vitrified china is the standard body material for commercial tableware precisely because it withstands the high temperatures and repeated wash cycles of commercial dishwashers. The reactive glaze is kiln-fired and integral to the piece, so it will not wash off or degrade under normal service conditions.
- As a general guide, most operators aim for two to three times their seated cover count to allow for items in use, on the pass, and going through the wash cycle simultaneously. For a 40-cover restaurant using this plate as a side or starter plate, three to four packs of 12 is a common starting point, though busier services or longer sittings may require more.
