Polar G-Series Countertop Prep Fridge 4-Pan GN Topping Unit

Product No: GD875

Product Description

The Polar G-Series countertop topping unit is a refrigerated ingredient station designed to sit on a prep surface and keep portioned ingredients cold and accessible during service. It holds a combination of gastronorm pans — three third-size and one half-size — sitting open at the top for direct access without opening a door. The stainless steel and glass construction is built to a commercial standard, and the unit maintains a holding temperature range suited to chilled food safety requirements. GN pans are not included and are sold separately.

In a working kitchen environment, this type of unit earns its place on busy sandwich lines, pizza make stations and cold starter sections where ingredients need to stay chilled and immediately to hand throughout service. The design keeps food within arm's reach without repeated trips to a reach-in or walk-in, which helps maintain pace during peak periods. Polar's G-Series refrigeration is rated for ambient conditions up to 32°C, which is a practical consideration in kitchens where the environment warms significantly during service.

From an operational standpoint, the key advantages of this unit are straightforward:

  • Ingredients stay at a safe chill temperature without constant restocking from cold storage
  • Digital controls are simple to set and monitor, reducing the chance of temperature drift going unnoticed
  • Stainless steel surfaces clean down quickly between prep sessions
  • The open-top format keeps workflow moving without handling cabinet doors
  • R600a refrigerant is a lower-impact option compared with older refrigerant types

The unit runs from a standard mains supply and does not require a plumbed water connection or specialist ventilation provision, though adequate airflow around the unit should be maintained — check clearance requirements before positioning it in a tight run. At 55kg, it is a solid piece of kit that two people should handle during installation. The 1200mm width fits a standard prep counter, but it is worth measuring the available run before ordering, particularly if the unit needs to sit alongside other countertop equipment.

This topping unit is most appropriate for lower-to-medium volume operations: sandwich shops, small pizzerias, café kitchens and modest à la carte operations where a limited number of chilled ingredients cycle through service. It is not sized for high-throughput operations turning over large volumes of ingredients continuously — for those environments, a larger or multi-section unit would be a more considered choice.

If you are unsure whether this unit suits your prep line layout or service volume, the team is happy to talk it through before you commit.
