Stainless Steel Spec SheetProduct Description
The Designline stainless steel base cupboard is a purpose-built storage unit for commercial kitchen environments, designed to sit at standard counter height and integrate cleanly with back-counter runs, wall benches, and centre bench configurations. Construction is based on a welded box-section frame with a fixed base shelf, a full-height rear panel, and wrap-around side panels that enclose the frame for a clean, hygienic finish. An adjustable mid-shelf sits on strengthened support rails, allowing the internal storage space to be configured around whatever you need to store.
In practice, these cupboards work well as under-counter storage for dry goods, smallwares, and equipment that needs to be close to hand during service without cluttering the worktop above. The enclosed construction keeps contents clear of floor debris and makes cleaning around the unit straightforward. Cupboards up to 1,200mm in length are fitted with hinged doors; wider units are supplied with sliding doors, which is the more practical arrangement where access space in front of the unit is limited.
A few practical points worth understanding before ordering:
- Two leg height options are available — a shorter option to align with adjacent hot cupboard or plinth heights, and a taller option to line through with wall and centre benches
- Two worktop profiles are offered — a centre bench top with turned-down edges on both sides, or a wall bench top with a rear upstand
- Wall bench versions have legs inset to the rear to allow for service pipework running behind the unit
- Flanged adjustable feet allow the unit to be levelled and fixed securely to the floor on site
These cupboards are well suited to new kitchen builds and refurbishments where stainless steel fabrication is being used throughout. They are designed to integrate with Designline's wider bench and frame range, so if you are fitting out a full run or need to match existing Designline equipment, it is worth discussing your layout before ordering to ensure leg heights and worktop types align correctly across the installation.
If you are unsure which configuration suits your kitchen layout, our team are happy to talk through the options with you.

Stainless Steel Spec SheetFrequently Asked Questions
- The shorter leg height is designed to align with adjacent equipment such as hot cupboards and standard kick plinth heights, while the taller leg height allows the base cupboard to line through with Designline wall and centre benches. If you are fitting the cupboard into an existing counter run, it is worth checking the height of adjacent units before ordering to ensure everything sits flush.
- The centre bench worktop has a turned-down edge on both sides and is intended for island or freestanding runs where the unit is accessible from either side. The wall bench worktop has a rear upstand to protect the wall and is designed to sit against a wall run, with the rear legs inset to allow pipework to run behind the unit. Choosing the wrong worktop type for your layout can cause problems during installation, so if you are unsure, it is worth confirming your configuration before ordering.
- Designline base cupboards are designed to work within the broader Designline bench and frame system, sharing compatible heights and construction standards. If you are fitting out a full kitchen run or adding to an existing Designline installation, it is advisable to discuss your layout with us first to confirm that leg heights, worktop types, and overall dimensions will align correctly across the run.
