Product Description
The Moffat D2RW is a drop-in refrigerated well designed to be built directly into a counter structure. Rather than sitting on a worktop as a freestanding unit, it becomes part of the counter itself, providing chilled holding and front-of-house display in a single integrated format. The range includes several configurations — straight glass, flat glass, and double-stack gantry options — giving operators the ability to match the unit to their servery layout and the way they want food to be seen by customers.
In practice, these units are well suited to cafeteria lines, hotel breakfast counters, staff restaurants, and buffet serveries where chilled food needs to be both held safely and presented attractively throughout service. The drop-in format works with counters built from stainless steel, granite, Corian, marble, tile, or timber, making it a practical choice wherever the aesthetics of the servery matter alongside function. Temperature recovery following restocking or door opening is consistent enough to maintain safe hold conditions across a typical service period.
Key operational advantages include:
- Integrates cleanly into new-build or existing counter structures without full counter replacement
- Consistent chilled holding keeps food safe and presentable throughout service
- Choice of glass and gantry profiles to suit different display and visibility requirements
- Standard 13A plug connection removes the need for dedicated electrical supply work in most installations
- Compatible with a wide range of counter materials and custom-built configurations
Installation is straightforward provided the counter aperture is cut accurately. The 13A connection simplifies fitting considerably in most servery environments. Ventilation clearance does need to be confirmed before installation — Size 2 models require straight-through front-to-back airflow, which must be designed into the counter structure from the outset. On SL models, gantry glass is supplied flat-packed for on-site assembly. Gastronorm pans are not included and will need to be sourced separately.
This unit is most appropriate for operators running cafeteria, buffet, or grab-and-go servery counters where refrigerated display needs to sit flush within the counter surface. It suits both new counter builds and refurbishments where the existing structure is being retained. For very high-volume or extended-run applications, it is worth considering whether a more heavy-duty refrigeration solution would better serve the operation.
If you are working out which configuration fits your counter dimensions or service pattern, we are happy to talk it through with you before you commit to an order.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Size 2 models require straight-through front-to-back airflow, so this needs to be designed into the counter structure before installation. If the counter restricts airflow in either direction, the refrigeration system will not perform correctly and may fail to maintain safe temperatures. It is worth confirming your counter construction allows for this clearance before the aperture is cut.
- Yes, this is a typical application for the unit. It is designed to hold chilled food throughout a service period and recovers consistently after restocking or customer access. For very high-volume sites where the unit is under near-continuous load across extended hours, it is worth discussing whether a heavier-duty refrigeration solution might be more appropriate for your operation.
- Gastronorm pans are not included with the D2RW and will need to be sourced separately. The unit is designed around standard GN sizing, so compatibility is broad, but we would recommend confirming the specific pan configuration against your chosen model before ordering to ensure the depth and layout work for your menu.
