The Churchill Isla Rimmed Soup Bowl is a 249mm white bowl produced in super vitrified china, finished with a subtle dappled surface texture. It forms part of Churchill's Isla range, which draws on a coastal aesthetic while remaining firmly practical for professional table service. The rimmed profile gives a clean presentation edge and makes the piece straightforward to handle during busy service — useful for front-of-house staff moving quickly between covers.

Super vitrified china is Churchill's standard construction across their professional tableware lines, and it performs well in the conditions a commercial operation actually places on tableware. The material is denser and more chip-resistant than standard vitrified china, which matters when bowls are being stacked, handled rapidly, and run through commercial dishwashers multiple times during a service shift. The dappled surface texture adds visual interest without creating any practical cleaning complications.

  • Super vitrified body withstands repeated commercial dishwasher cycles reliably
  • Rimmed profile aids handling and gives a consistent presentation edge
  • Dappled texture provides table character without compromising hygiene
  • Neutral white glaze coordinates across most table settings and linen choices
  • Pack of 12 is practical for building or replenishing cover sets incrementally

The Isla bowl is well suited to soup, broth, and shallow pasta presentations. It is worth considering how it sits within your wider cover requirements — Churchill produce a broad coordinating range, and selecting matching pieces together helps maintain a consistent table presentation across sittings.

If you are specifying tableware for a new opening or topping up an existing set, the team is happy to talk through quantities and how different pieces from the range tend to work together in practice.

Frequently asked questions

How many bowls do I need for a typical restaurant cover?

As a general guide, most operators work on one-and-a-half to two times their seated cover count to allow for bowls in the dishwasher cycle at any given point during service. For a 40-cover restaurant running two sittings, three to four packs of 12 is a common starting point, though volume and dishwasher turnaround time both affect the right number for your site.

Is the Isla bowl suitable for use with commercial dishwashers?

Yes — super vitrified china is specifically produced to withstand the temperature and mechanical demands of commercial warewashing equipment. The material is denser and more resistant to thermal shock than standard vitrified china, which makes it a practical choice for sites running high dishwasher cycle volumes through a service period.

Can the Isla Rimmed Soup Bowl be mixed with other Churchill ranges on the same table?

Churchill's professional ranges are designed to coordinate, and the Isla bowl's neutral white glaze means it can sit alongside other white Churchill pieces without obvious inconsistency. That said, if you are specifying a full cover from scratch, selecting pieces from within the Isla range will give the most cohesive result — it is worth discussing your full cover requirements before ordering across multiple ranges.
