The Churchill Nourish Kochi soup bowl is a plain white, minimal-profile bowl from Churchill's Nourish range, designed to work across a wide range of modern table settings without drawing attention to itself. At 130mm across, it suits starter soups, amuse-bouche portions, and side servings comfortably, holding 0.4 litres — a practical size for plated starters or sharing service.

Made from finest vitrified china, the body does not absorb moisture, which matters in a busy kitchen where bowls are washed and turned around repeatedly throughout service. The material also holds heat well once warmed, which helps maintain serving temperature between the pass and the table. Thermal shock resistance means the bowl handles the transition from dishwasher heat to cold storage without the cracking or crazing that affects lower-grade china over time.

Churchill's Eco Glaze finish provides practical advantages in daily service use:

  • Resistant to staining from broths, creamy soups, and pigmented sauces
  • Metal mark resistant, reducing the appearance of cutlery scuffing over time
  • Fully glazed foot prevents scratching when bowls are stacked for storage
  • Defined rim edge supports neat, consistent presentation
  • Microwave and dishwasher safe for straightforward kitchen workflow

These bowls are well suited to restaurants, hotel dining, contract catering, and any operation that needs a reliable, hard-wearing white bowl that remains presentable through heavy daily use. The pack of 12 is a sensible quantity for smaller operations or top-up orders; higher-volume sites running large cover numbers may find it worth ordering in greater quantities to reduce handling and reorder frequency.

If you are specifying tableware across a new opening or want to match with other pieces in the Nourish range, the team is happy to talk through what works together.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 0.4 litre bowl the right size for a starter soup portion?

For a plated starter or a side soup serving, 0.4 litres is a commonly used portion size in restaurant and hotel dining. If you are serving a main-course soup or a more generous portion, you may want to consider a larger bowl from the Nourish range.

How well do these bowls hold up to a commercial dishwasher over time?

The vitrified construction and thermal shock resistance mean these bowls are built for repeated commercial wash cycles. The Eco Glaze also helps the surface resist the dulling and staining that can affect lower-grade china after extended dishwasher use.

Can these be used for dishes other than soup?

Yes — the Kochi bowl's shape and size make it practical for small salads, dips, amuse-bouche, or side dishes as well as soup. Its plain white finish and defined rim work well for a range of plated presentations.
