The Steelite Charcoal Dapple cup is a small porcelain espresso cup with a distinctive reactively glazed rim. Because reactive glazing responds to kiln conditions during firing, each piece carries a subtly different pattern — no two cups look identical. The result is a cohesive tableware collection with natural variation, sitting comfortably between rustic and contemporary in character.

At 85ml, this cup is sized for espresso and short black coffee service. The porcelain body is alumina-enriched, which improves chip resistance compared with standard vitrified china — a practical consideration in any setting where cups are handled, stacked, and washed at volume throughout the day. The charcoal glaze masks minor surface marks that can accumulate with heavy use, helping the ware maintain its appearance across service periods.

  • Chip-resistant alumina-enriched porcelain construction
  • Reactive rim glaze gives each cup individual character
  • Suitable for microwave, freezer, and commercial dishwasher use
  • Consistent with other Steelite Charcoal Dapple range pieces
  • Pack of 12 supports standard espresso bar cover requirements

These cups are well suited to café bars, hotel breakfast operations, restaurant coffee service, and any environment looking to move away from plain white ware without adopting a heavily patterned aesthetic. The Charcoal Dapple range extends to other piece types, so building a coordinated table setting across the range is straightforward. For higher-volume operations requiring larger pack quantities or a broader selection of complementary pieces, it is worth discussing your full requirements before ordering.

If you are putting together a tableware package or are unsure which pieces from the Dapple range suit your service style, we are happy to talk it through.

Frequently asked questions

Are these cups suitable for use in a commercial dishwasher?

Yes — the Steelite Charcoal Dapple cups are rated for commercial dishwasher use. The alumina-enriched porcelain is designed to withstand the thermal and mechanical demands of repeated machine washing in a professional environment.

Will all 12 cups in the pack look the same?

Not exactly. The rim glaze is reactive, meaning it responds to kiln conditions during firing and produces subtle variation from piece to piece. The overall colour and character remain consistent across the range, but individual cups will differ slightly — which is an intentional feature of the design rather than a quality issue.

Is this cup compatible with other pieces in the Steelite Charcoal Dapple range?

Yes. Steelite produces the Charcoal Dapple finish across multiple piece types, so it is possible to build a coordinated table setting. If you are selecting several pieces from the range for a full cover package, it is worth discussing your requirements with us to ensure availability and consistency across your order.
