The Steelite Terramesa Spice Plate is an 8" side or starter plate from Steelite's Terramesa range, finished in a warm Mocha colourway. The plate is constructed from alumina vitrified ceramic — a denser, more durable body than standard vitrified china — and hand-finished with a textured reactive glaze along the edges that gives each piece a subtly individual, craft-influenced appearance. The Terramesa range was developed in response to growing demand for natural, earthy tones on the table, drawing on a palette that references the journey from soil to plate.

In a busy front-of-house environment, the alumina vitrified body offers meaningful practical advantages. It is more resistant to chipping and cracking under the repeated handling, stacking, and warewashing that commercial service demands, and the edge-chip warranty reflects confidence in the construction. The Mocha finish holds well under commercial dishwasher cycles without the fading or blunting of colour that affects lower-quality coloured tableware.

  • Alumina vitrified construction for improved chip and crack resistance
  • Hand-finished reactive glaze edges — each piece has natural variation in character
  • Well suited to commercial warewashers without compromising finish
  • Earthy Mocha tone works across a wide range of contemporary cover styles
  • Supplied in a pack of 24, practical for building or topping up a service set

This plate is well suited to casual dining, bistro, and restaurant settings where a warm, natural aesthetic is part of the table concept. It works as a side plate, bread plate, or small starter plate depending on service style. The 202mm diameter is a versatile size that sits comfortably across most cover layouts without dominating the setting.

If you are building a full cover from the Terramesa range or need guidance on pack quantities for your service volume, the team is happy to help you work through what you need.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Mocha glaze finish durable enough for a high-volume commercial warewasher?

Yes — the alumina vitrified body is designed to withstand the thermal and mechanical demands of commercial dishwasher cycles. The reactive glaze is fired into the piece rather than applied as a surface coating, so it does not fade or peel in the way that some decorative finishes can under repeated high-temperature washing.

How many packs would a typical restaurant need to open a new service set?

That depends on your cover count and how many turns you run per service. As a general guide, most operators aim for at least one and a half times their cover count to allow for breakage float and items in the wash cycle. If you let us know your cover count and service style, we can help you work out a sensible opening order.

Does the hand-finished reactive glaze mean pieces will look noticeably different from one another?

There will be subtle natural variation in the glaze between pieces — that is intentional and part of the craft character of the Terramesa range. The variation is modest enough that it reads as considered rather than inconsistent on the table, and it is well within the tolerances that Steelite sets for the range.
