Cast iron is a sensible choice for a commercial base. It provides meaningful weight and a low centre of gravity, which keeps the table stable during a busy service without the need for additional fixings. The broad foot spread further reduces the risk of toppling — a practical consideration in tighter floor layouts where tables are seated close together or customers are moving around frequently. At 18kg, the base has enough mass to stay planted but is still manageable when moving furniture for cleaning or reconfiguration.
