These are paper lids designed to fit Vegware's 89-Series range of compostable hot cups. Made from sustainably sourced paper with a bio-based, moisture-resistant lining, they are intended as a fully compostable alternative to conventional plastic lids — suitable for operations that have made a commitment to reducing single-use plastic waste across their drinks service.

The lids feature a pull-back tab, which makes them practical for takeaway and on-the-go service without requiring a separate sip hole or additional lid type. They perform well in café, hospitality, and catering environments where speed of service matters and staff need a lid that fits securely first time.

  • Compostable construction reduces single-use plastic in your drinks service
  • Pull-back tab suitable for takeaway and on-the-go drinks service
  • Moisture-resistant lining maintains integrity with hot beverages
  • Compatible with the full Vegware 89-Series hot cup range
  • Pack of 1000 suits moderate to high-volume service without frequent reordering

Before ordering, it is worth confirming that your current hot cups are within Vegware's 89-Series sizing. These lids are designed specifically for that series and will not reliably fit cups from other size ranges or non-Vegware brands. If you are building out a fully compostable drinks service from scratch, it is worth ensuring your cups, lids, and any other packaging elements are all specced from a compatible range.

These lids are well suited to cafés, coffee shops, staff canteens, contract caterers, and any operation running a takeaway drinks offer where compostable packaging is a requirement — whether driven by policy, venue rules, or customer expectation. If you are unsure which cup sizes or quantities are right for your service volumes, we are happy to help you work that out.

Frequently asked questions

Which cups are these lids compatible with?

These lids are designed for Vegware's 89-Series hot cup range. If you are using hot cups from a different size series — whether Vegware or another brand — they are unlikely to fit correctly, so it is worth checking your cup sizing before ordering.

Are these lids certified compostable, and does that matter for disposal?

Vegware products are designed to be commercially compostable, meaning they require an industrial composting facility rather than a home compost bin. If you are making sustainability claims to customers or need to meet a venue's waste policy, it is worth confirming that your waste contractor accepts compostable packaging before switching from conventional lids.

Is a pack of 1000 the right quantity for my operation?

That depends on your daily covers and how many hot drinks you serve to go. A busy city-centre café might work through 1000 lids in a week or two, while a smaller operation may find a single case lasts considerably longer. If you are unsure how to size your stock order, we can help you think it through based on your service volumes.
