Nisbets Essentials
Nisbets Essentials Polypropylene 1/3 Gastronorm Container 150mm
£5.36(£6.43 inc VAT)
This is a standard 1/3 gastronorm container made from food-safe, BPA-free polypropylene. It holds ingredients, prepped items, or portioned food, and fits into any gastronorm-compatible rack, tray, chilled display, or refrigerated unit that accepts 1/3 GN sizing. The 150mm depth gives a reasonable volume for bulk ingredient storage or batch-prepped components without the container becoming unwieldy to handle or stack.
In a working kitchen, containers like this get used constantly across prep, service, and storage. Polypropylene handles temperature extremes well enough for fridge and freezer use, and the transparent body means staff can identify contents at a glance without lifting a lid or labelling every container — a small but practical time-saver during a busy service. The material is also lighter than stainless steel equivalents, which matters when staff are moving multiple containers during changeover.
- Transparent body allows quick visual identification of contents
- Fits standard gastronorm racks, cold wells, and refrigerated prep units
- Suitable for fridge and freezer storage
- Lightweight construction reduces handling fatigue during prep
- Compatible with a separate lid for sealed storage and transit
There are no installation requirements — these drop straight into existing gastronorm infrastructure. Worth noting that polypropylene is not suitable for oven use or direct heat, so these are storage and cold-side containers only. For hot-hold or bain-marie applications, stainless steel gastronorm containers would be the appropriate choice.
Well suited to any commercial kitchen that uses gastronorm-compatible refrigeration or prep equipment — from small catering operations through to high-volume kitchens running multiple fridge sections. If you need shallower containers for garnishes and small portions, or deeper versions for bulk storage, there are other depths in the same range worth considering.
If you're putting together a larger order of containers and lids or want to confirm compatibility with your existing kit, feel free to get in touch with the team.

Frequently asked questions
Can this container be used in a bain-marie or hot-hold unit?
No — polypropylene is a cold-side material and is not suitable for bain-marie, oven, or any direct heat application. For hot-hold use, stainless steel gastronorm containers are the appropriate choice.
Will this fit standard gastronorm refrigeration and prep equipment?
Yes. It follows standard 1/3 GN dimensions, so it will seat correctly in any gastronorm-compatible refrigerated prep unit, cold well, or storage rack. If you're unsure whether your existing equipment accepts 1/3 GN sizing, it's worth checking the manufacturer spec for your fridge or prep table before ordering in volume.
Is a lid included, or does it need to be ordered separately?
The lid is sold separately. If you're ordering containers for sealed storage or transport, you'll need to add the compatible lid to your order — the team can confirm the correct match if needed.
