The Steelite Modern Twist placemat is a silicone table linen alternative designed for commercial dining environments. Made from food-safe silicone in a woven twine pattern, it sits in the space between cloth napery and vinyl placemats — offering the visual warmth of a textile with the practical durability of a non-porous material.

In operational terms, silicone placemats of this type earn their place in high-turnover dining rooms where linen laundering costs are a genuine concern. They lay flat without curling, resist heat from serving vessels, and clean down quickly between covers. The silver twine finish suits contemporary and neutral table schemes, and the material holds its appearance through repeated cleaning cycles without the colour fade common in fabric alternatives.

  • Commercially dishwasher safe — consistent results through high-volume cycles
  • Lay-flat construction — no curling or reshaping required between services
  • Food-safe silicone — BPA free and non-porous for good hygiene practice
  • Heat resistant surface — protects tables from warm plates and serving dishes
  • No laundering required — reduces linen handling and associated labour

These placemats are sold in boxes of 12, which suits initial table setting for smaller venues or topping up existing stock. They are well suited to hotel dining rooms, café counters, and restaurant covers where a consistent, low-maintenance table presentation is a priority. For very large operations or where a full table runner aesthetic is preferred, broader format options may be worth considering.

If you are unsure whether this format and finish is the right fit for your table scheme or service volume, we are happy to talk it through.

Frequently asked questions

Are these placemats suitable for use in a commercial dishwasher?

Yes — these silicone placemats are designed to be commercially dishwasher safe, making them practical for high-turnover dining operations where speed of turnaround between services matters. The silicone material holds its shape and finish through repeated cycles without the degradation seen in fabric or vinyl alternatives.

How do these compare to cloth linen placemats in a restaurant setting?

Silicone placemats of this type remove the laundering step entirely, which can meaningfully reduce linen handling costs and turnaround time in busy services. They will not replicate the tactile quality of pressed linen, but for venues where practicality and hygiene consistency are priorities, they are a well-established alternative used across hotels, restaurants, and airport lounges.

Are the placemats sold individually or as a set?

These are supplied in a box of 12, which suits initial stock for smaller dining rooms or supplementing an existing supply. If you are equipping a larger operation or need to calculate quantities across multiple covers, it is worth speaking with us to make sure you are ordering the right volume.
