The Steelite Messina coupe plate is part of Steelite Performance's Messina range, finished in an Aqua glaze that brings a calm, coastal quality to a table setting. The coupe profile — broad and shallow with no pronounced rim — suits a wide range of plating styles and works particularly well where the presentation of the dish itself is meant to take centre stage.
Manufactured from alumina vitrified china, these plates are built to withstand the demands of regular commercial service. The material offers strong resistance to thermal shock and glaze wear, which matters in busy operations where plates cycle repeatedly through dishwashers, pass under heat lamps, or come into contact with cold surfaces in rapid succession. The Aqua finish holds its appearance well with consistent use and warrants the confidence of Steelite's Lifetime Edge Chip Warranty.
From a practical standpoint, the plates offer a few useful operational characteristics:
- Dishwasher safe and compatible with microwave and freezer use
- Good heat retention to support consistent food temperatures at the pass
- Coupe profile stacks efficiently, reducing storage footprint
- Lifetime Edge Chip Warranty provides long-term replacement confidence
The Aqua colourway suits operations with a Mediterranean, coastal, or al fresco theme, but the clean profile also works in more contemporary settings where a subtle colour accent is preferred over plain white. This pack of 12 is appropriate for smaller operations or as a supplementary order; higher-volume sites running multiple sittings may want to consider ordering additional packs to maintain cover during peak service and dishwasher cycles.
If you are building a full table setting or matching this plate to other pieces in the Messina range, the team is happy to help you confirm quantities and compatibility before you place your order.
Frequently asked questions
How many packs would a typical restaurant need to run a full service?
For a site running two sittings with covers for 20 to 30 guests, two to three packs of 12 is a reasonable starting point, allowing for breakages and plates in the wash cycle during service. Higher-volume operations or those running continuous sittings should factor in additional buffer stock to avoid running short at the pass.
Are these plates suitable for use in a commercial dishwasher on a high-temperature cycle?
Yes. The alumina vitrified construction is designed to withstand thermal shock, which makes these plates compatible with the high-temperature and fast-cycle conditions typical of commercial rack and conveyor dishwashers. Regular commercial dishwasher use should not affect the glaze or structural integrity over normal service life.
Does the Aqua glaze colour fade or alter with heavy use over time?
Steelite's vitrified glazes are fired at high temperatures and are designed to resist staining and colour change under normal commercial conditions. Consistent dishwasher use at correct temperatures and with appropriate detergents will give the best long-term results; abrasive cleaning products or incorrect chemical concentrations are the most common cause of premature glaze wear in any coloured tableware range.
