Steelite Performance
Steelite Off Grid Studio Fire Tall Bowls Ember 175mm 24 Pack
£323.00(£387.60 inc VAT)
The Fire range from Steelite's Off Grid Studio collection is designed by potter Sam Gordon to replicate the character of wood-fired ceramics in a format built for commercial service. Each piece carries intentional reactive qualities — subtle colour shifts, natural highlights, and slightly irregular edge details — giving the impression of handmade pottery while retaining the consistency and durability expected from a professional tableware manufacturer. The Ember colourway sits in warm, earthy tones that work well across a range of cover styles.
In day-to-day service, the porcelain body provides the kind of robustness needed in a busy front-of-house environment. The semi-matte glaze resists staining without sacrificing the tactile, artisan quality that makes the range visually distinctive. These tall bowls are suited to sharing plates, ramen, noodle dishes, and deeply sauced or broth-based mains where a conventional shallow bowl wouldn't contain the portion effectively.
Practically, the range removes some of the usual trade-offs between aesthetic and operational convenience:
- Passes through commercial dishwashers without degrading the glaze finish
- Suitable for oven, microwave, and freezer use — supports flexible prep and service workflows
- The reactive surface means minor marks and micro-scratches are far less visible than on plain white ware
- Supplied in a case of 24, appropriate for stocking a section or managing breakage replacement across a larger operation
The 175mm diameter suits generous single-serve portions. For operators running smaller tasting portions or larger sharing formats, other sizes within the Fire range may be a better fit for the menu.
If you're building a cover scheme around the Off Grid Studio collection or want to confirm this bowl suits your portion sizes and service style, our team is happy to talk it through.

Frequently asked questions
Are these bowls suitable for high-volume operations running multiple sittings per service?
Yes — the porcelain construction and dishwasher compatibility make these practical for busy operations where tableware turns over quickly. The reactive glaze also means the bowls hold their appearance better than plain white alternatives, which can show wear more readily under heavy use.
Does the reactive glaze vary significantly between individual pieces?
Yes, and intentionally so. Each piece will carry its own subtle variation in tone and edge detail — this is a design feature of the Fire range rather than a quality inconsistency. In practice, this variation reads well on the table and is rarely noticeable across a set cover.
What type of menu or service style suits these tall bowls best?
The tall bowl format works well for broth-based dishes, ramen, noodle dishes, and deeply sauced mains where a shallower bowl wouldn't contain the portion effectively. They also suit casual dining and contemporary restaurant covers where an artisan tableware aesthetic supports the overall look of the room.
