Alumina vitrified ceramic is a dense, low-porosity material that resists chipping and crazing better than standard vitrified china, and holds up well under the repeated mechanical and thermal stress of a busy dishwasher cycle.

The 203mm size is most commonly used as a starter, side or dessert plate, the 230mm suits starters, sides and lighter mains, and the 253mm works well as a main course plate. Because the glaze finish varies between pieces, colour and surface texture are not perfectly uniform across a pack.
