The Brabantia NewIcon is a compact steel pedal bin finished in matt black, designed for use in hotel rooms, en-suites, guest bathrooms, and similar hospitality settings where a small, discreet waste solution is needed. It operates via a foot pedal, keeping the user's hands free and away from the bin itself — a straightforward hygiene advantage in any guest-facing environment.

The lid is soft-closing, which prevents the sharp noise of a lid slamming shut — a small but worthwhile consideration in hotel rooms where guest experience is a priority. An odour-proof seal helps contain waste smells between housekeeping rounds, which is particularly useful in compact spaces such as en-suite bathrooms or cloakrooms.

From a practical standpoint, the matt black finish is reasonably resistant to visible fingermarks compared with gloss or chrome alternatives, and the steel construction means it holds up to regular daily use without distorting or cracking as cheaper plastic bins tend to do over time. The inner bucket lifts out for straightforward liner changes and cleaning.

  • Foot-pedal operation keeps hands away from the bin — practical for hygiene
  • Soft-close lid reduces noise in guest environments
  • Odour-proof lid seal helps manage waste between cleans
  • Removable inner bucket simplifies liner changes and maintenance
  • Matt black steel finish suits contemporary room schemes

This size is best suited to individual hotel rooms, guest bathrooms, or cloakroom areas. For housekeeping corridors, back-of-house spaces, or shared facilities requiring a larger capacity, a bigger model would be more appropriate.

If you're fitting out multiple rooms or need guidance on which bin sizes suit different areas of a property, we're happy to talk it through.

Frequently asked questions

Is this bin suitable for a hotel en-suite bathroom?

Yes, it's well suited to en-suite bathrooms and single hotel rooms where a compact, discreet waste bin is needed. The soft-close lid and odour-proof seal make it a practical choice for guest-facing spaces where noise and smell management both matter.

How easy is it for housekeeping staff to service this bin?

The inner bucket lifts out cleanly, making liner changes and washing straightforward without needing to handle the outer body. For properties with high room counts, that ease of servicing does make a practical difference across a full housekeeping round.

Is a 3-litre capacity sufficient, or should we consider a larger size?

For a standard hotel room or en-suite, a 3-litre bin is generally adequate given daily housekeeping. If you're looking at bins for shared guest bathrooms, corridors, or rooms with longer service intervals, a larger capacity would be more appropriate — we can advise on sizing if helpful.
