The JM Posner SQ3 is a large-format electric chocolate fountain built for sustained, high-volume food service. Constructed throughout from 304 grade polished stainless steel, it is designed to run continuously across extended service periods — wedding receptions, hotel banqueting, busy dessert bars, seasonal events, and similar high-footfall environments where a smaller unit would simply not keep pace.
In use, the SQ3 performs reliably where the fountain is expected to run for several hours with minimal intervention. The adjustable temperature control across a wide range gives operators the ability to fine-tune chocolate viscosity rather than working with a fixed output — which matters in practice, because different chocolate brands and blends behave differently at temperature. Having that control helps avoid the common mid-service problem of chocolate running too thin or seizing up too thick.
From an operational standpoint, the key advantages of this unit are:
- Capacity to serve between 80 and 600 guests from a single load, reducing refill interruptions during service
- 304 grade polished stainless steel construction that is straightforward to clean and resists staining over repeated use
- Wide temperature range giving consistent control over chocolate consistency across different products
- Robust build quality backed by a five-year parts warranty, reflecting the expectation of regular commercial use
- Manageable footprint relative to its capacity, which helps with event setup and breakdown
At 27.3kg, the SQ3 is a substantial piece of kit. Two people are needed to move it safely, and event caterers should allow adequate time for transport, setup, and levelling on site — the unit requires a flat, stable surface to flow correctly. It runs from a standard electrical supply with no gas or water connections required. It is not designed for unattended operation; someone should remain on hand to monitor chocolate levels and temperature throughout service.
The SQ3 is well suited to professional event caterers, hotel banqueting teams, buffet restaurants, and dessert-focused venues with regular high-volume requirements. For smaller operations — a café running a dipping station for a handful of covers — a lower-capacity model within the JM Posner range is likely to be a more practical and economical fit. At the other end, very high-volume permanent installations may warrant a review of the wider range to confirm the right capacity.
If you would like to talk through whether the SQ3 is the right match for your service volumes and setup before ordering, the team is here to help.

This Olympia induction chafer set provides a complete food-holding solution for buffet, carvery, and self-service operations. The set comprises a full 1/1 GN chafer pan, a lid, a floor-standing frame, and an induction heater unit — everything needed to hold prepared food at a consistent serving temperature without requiring a gas supply or exposed flame.
Induction heating transfers energy directly to the pan rather than warming the surrounding air, which means the food stays hotter for longer with less energy consumed. In a busy buffet environment this matters: dishes hold their temperature more evenly across the pan, reducing the hot spots and cold edges that can occur with traditional spirit burners or electric hot plates. The lidded design further supports heat retention during slower service periods or between replenishments.
From an operational standpoint, the key advantages of this type of set are:
- More consistent food temperatures across extended service periods
- Lower energy consumption compared to gas or standard hot-plate alternatives
- No open flame, reducing the risk associated with spirit burners in public-facing areas
- Straightforward cleaning — the stainless steel and glass construction wipes down easily after service
- Self-contained setup with no fixed installation requirements beyond a standard power supply
Because this is a portable, plug-in unit, it is well suited to hotel restaurants, function suites, contract catering operations, and any venue running a buffet or carvery service. It is not designed for continuous all-day holding at high volume — for high-throughput operations serving large numbers simultaneously, a multiple-unit setup or a heavier-duty heated counter may be worth considering.
If you are unsure whether this format suits your service style or how many units your operation would need, the team is happy to talk it through before you place an order.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between drop-in and freestanding buffet units?
Drop-in units such as the Moffat D2 range and Tefcold CW wells are built into a counter. Freestanding units such as the Moffat Versicarte Pro servery range and the mobile Victor RW30MS salad well stand on their own.
Can I get hot and cold display in one buffet unit?
Roller Grill SB 40 M and SB 60 M are listed as refrigerated and heated buffet units, and the SBM 40 M is the wall sited version. Check the product page for how each unit is laid out.
Do you stock heated and ambient plate dispensers?
Yes. Tournus 808 models are heated single, twin and twin stack, with a twin ambient model too. Moffat offers the DUP1 ambient and DHP1 heated in-counter dispensers.
What soup warmers are in the range?
The Sammic OS-10 and OSI-10 are 10 litre countertop soup kettles. Thunder Group SEJ31000C and SEJ32000C are stainless steel 10.5 qt soup warmers.
