This mattress protector from Mitre Essentials is a practical, no-fuss solution for protecting super king mattresses in hotel and hospitality environments. It uses a polypropylene top layer with a PVC-backed underside to provide a water-resistant barrier, helping to extend the usable life of the mattress beneath. A polyester quilted fill adds a modest layer of comfort without significantly altering the feel of the bed.

In a housekeeping context, the elasticated corner straps make fitting and removal straightforward between turnovers, which helps keep room preparation times manageable. The protector is designed to sit beneath the fitted sheet, remaining out of sight while doing its job quietly in the background.

  • Water-resistant PVC backing guards against moisture and spills
  • Quilted polyester fill adds a light comfort layer
  • Elasticated corner straps for quick, secure fitting
  • Machine washable at 40°C for straightforward laundering
  • Suitable for use with standard hotel linen programmes

Washing at 40°C with reduced mechanical action keeps the protector in good condition through regular commercial laundering cycles. It should not be bleached, wrung, or ironed, and tumble drying should be on a very low heat setting — worth factoring in if you are running a high-turnover laundry operation.

This protector is well suited to hotels, guesthouses, and serviced accommodation where basic mattress protection is a priority and budget is a practical consideration. For properties requiring a higher level of protection or a more substantial quilted finish, heavier-duty alternatives are available within our linen range.

If you are unsure whether this specification is the right fit for your property's linen programme, our team is happy to talk it through.

Frequently asked questions

Is this mattress protector suitable for high-turnover hotel laundry programmes?

It is designed to withstand regular commercial laundering at 40°C with reduced mechanical action. For properties running very high-frequency laundry cycles, it is worth checking the care requirements against your laundry equipment settings, as tumble drying must be on a very low heat to maintain the protector's condition over time.

Does the PVC backing make any noise or affect guest comfort?

The PVC backing is intended to sit beneath a fitted sheet, so direct contact with guests is not expected in normal use. The quilted polyester fill provides a modest buffer, though this is primarily a protective product rather than a comfort layer — guests are unlikely to notice it through standard hotel bedding.

Is this protector appropriate for all types of hospitality property?

It is a practical, straightforward choice for hotels, guesthouses, and serviced accommodation where reliable mattress protection and easy laundry management are the main priorities. Properties with more premium linen requirements or those looking for a heavier quilted specification may find a higher-grade option from our range better suited to their needs.
