Single Door and Drawer Counter Freezers

The Polar U-Series single-drawer counter unit is a dual-temperature refrigeration base designed to sit beneath countertop equipment in a commercial kitchen. It operates as either a refrigerator or a freezer — selectable via the front-mounted digital control panel — and accepts up to three full-size 1/1 GN pans in a single drawer. The stainless steel construction is built to take the weight of heavy countertop equipment above it, making it a practical choice where worktop space is already in use.

In a working kitchen, the ability to switch between chilled and frozen storage without a separate unit can be genuinely useful when service demands shift, stock priorities change, or you need temporary additional capacity in one temperature zone. Polar's forced-air cooling system maintains consistent internal temperatures even in warm kitchen environments, which matters in busy services where the drawer is being opened frequently. The climate class 5 rating confirms this unit is specified for ambient conditions that regularly exceed those of a cooler, air-conditioned kitchen.

• Switchable between fridge and freezer modes via front digital panel
• Forced-air cooling maintains stable temperatures during frequent drawer access
• Sturdy stainless steel build supports heavy countertop equipment above
• Climate class 5 rated — suitable for hot kitchen ambient conditions
• R290 refrigerant with a low charge weight, in line with current environmental standards

Installation is relatively straightforward for a unit of this type — it is self-contained and does not require a remote condenser or external water supply. However, at 90kg it requires proper handling on delivery, and the 1230mm width means you should confirm the space carefully before ordering. Ventilation clearance at the front must be maintained; blocking the front grille will affect performance. The unit draws power from a standard single-phase supply, though confirming your circuit capacity with an electrician before installation is always sensible.

This unit is well suited to small to medium-sized kitchens — restaurants, cafés, hotel satellite kitchens, or any operation that needs flexible under-counter refrigeration without committing to fixed fridge or freezer capacity. Where a kitchen runs consistently high volumes of frozen or chilled stock and needs dedicated, higher-capacity drawer refrigeration, a larger multi-drawer configuration may be the more appropriate choice.

If you're unsure whether this unit fits your layout or service requirements, our team is happy to talk through the options before you commit.

The Polar U-Series single-drawer counter unit is a compact under-counter refrigeration solution that can operate as either a fridge or a freezer, depending on what your kitchen needs at any given time. It accommodates two full-size 1/1 GN pans within a single drawer, and its counter-height construction means it doubles as a stable work surface or appliance base — a practical consideration when space is limited.

In a busy kitchen environment, the dual-temperature capability is genuinely useful. Operations that shift between service styles — or kitchens that need to adapt storage between seasons or menu changes — can switch between chilled and frozen modes without investing in separate units. The forced-air cooling system maintains consistent temperatures even in hot kitchen conditions, which matters when the unit sits beside a cooking line or in a poorly ventilated prep area. The climate class 5 rating confirms it is designed to perform in ambient temperatures typical of working commercial kitchens.

From a practical standpoint, this unit offers several day-to-day advantages:

• Front-mounted digital controls allow straightforward temperature setting and monitoring during service
• Castors allow repositioning without lifting, useful during deep cleans or a kitchen rearrangement
• Stainless steel construction supports hygiene compliance and holds up to the wear of daily kitchen use
• R290 refrigerant has a low global warming potential, which may support sustainability reporting requirements

Installation is relatively straightforward — this is a plug-in unit that requires no fixed plumbing or gas supply. At 72kg it is manageable to position with two people, though access routes and final placement should be considered before delivery. The 905mm width fits beneath a standard counter run, but verify your available space carefully given the 700mm depth.

This unit is well suited to smaller kitchens, grab-and-go operations, café prep counters, and secondary storage positions in larger kitchens where a full-size upright would be impractical. If your site runs high-volume cold storage continuously, or if you need dedicated separate fridge and freezer capacity rather than a switchable unit, a larger or multi-drawer solution may serve you better.

If you are unsure whether this unit fits your workflow or your available space, our team is happy to talk it through before you place an order.

The Polar G-Series single door counter freezer is a compact, under-counter unit designed to keep a working supply of frozen stock within reach of the prep area. It accepts GN 1/1 containers, sits beneath a standard worktop, and runs on R290 refrigerant — a low-impact refrigerant that is increasingly standard across commercial refrigeration. Climate class 4 rated, it is built to operate reliably in ambient kitchen temperatures up to 32°C, which covers most working kitchen environments in the UK.

Fan-assisted cooling makes a practical difference during service. In a kitchen where the freezer door is opened frequently throughout a shift, fan circulation helps recover temperature more consistently than a static system would. Combined with a digital temperature controller, operators can keep an eye on internal conditions without relying on guesswork — which matters both for food safety records and for protecting stock during warmer periods.

In operational terms, this unit offers a few clear advantages for day-to-day kitchen use:

• Counter-height footprint provides usable workspace on top of the unit
• GN 1/1 compatibility keeps frozen stock organised and easy to rotate
• Digital controller supports accurate temperature monitoring for food safety
• Fan-assisted system maintains stable temperatures despite repeated door openings
• Compact width suits tighter prep runs without sacrificing meaningful frozen capacity

This is a freestanding, plug-in unit — installation requires a suitable mains socket and adequate clearance for ventilation around the cabinet. In warmer kitchen environments, airflow around the unit is worth planning carefully before positioning. At 48kg, it is sensible to decide on placement before the unit is connected and loaded with stock.

This freezer is well suited to smaller kitchens, cafés, sandwich bars, and prep stations where a moderate volume of frozen ingredients needs to stay accessible without occupying floor space. For operations with higher throughput demands or where significantly greater frozen capacity is needed, an upright or multi-door cabinet is likely to be a more appropriate fit.

If you are weighing up whether 88 litres will cover your service requirements, or want to talk through how this fits within your existing kitchen layout, the team is glad to help you think it through.

The Polar U-Series Double Drawer Counter is an under-counter refrigeration unit with two independently controlled drawers, each capable of running as either a fridge or a freezer. Combined, they accommodate up to six full-size 1/1 gastronorm pans. Temperature mode is set via front-mounted digital controls, meaning a kitchen can reconfigure cold and frozen storage to match the demands of a particular service without any tools or engineer involvement.

In a working kitchen, that flexibility has genuine operational value. A prep section that needs more frozen capacity during an evening service can reassign a drawer without reorganising the layout or sourcing additional equipment. The forced-air cooling system supports consistent temperature retention even with frequent access — important in a busy prep environment where drawers are opened repeatedly throughout service. The unit is rated for ambient conditions up to 43°C (Climate Class 5), which makes it suitable for hot kitchen environments where standard refrigeration units may struggle to hold safe temperatures reliably.

The drawer format itself offers practical advantages over hinged-door counters in tight spaces:

• Drawers open directly into the workspace, not across a walkway or adjacent station
• GN pan access is quicker during service — no reaching around a door
• Front controls are straightforward to read and adjust at a glance
• Stainless steel construction throughout supports routine cleaning and hygiene compliance
• Castors allow repositioning and cleaning underneath without heavy lifting

Installation is self-contained — the unit runs on a standard electrical supply with no gas or water connection required. At 131kg, floor loading and delivery access are worth thinking through before it arrives. The unit uses R290 refrigerant, a low global-warming-potential option that is increasingly relevant for operators tracking environmental compliance. The energy rating is G, which is typical for dual-temperature units of this type and worth factoring into running cost calculations, particularly on sites with a large refrigeration estate.

This unit suits small-to-medium operations where under-counter space is limited and the ability to switch between fridge and freezer storage adds real day-to-day flexibility — a hotel kitchen, a café prep area, or a restaurant pass where fast GN access matters. Kitchens running high covers across multiple sections with significant cold storage demands may find they need greater overall capacity; it is worth assessing total storage requirements before committing to a single unit.

If you would like to talk through whether this configuration fits your kitchen's cold storage needs, the team is glad to help before you place an order.

The Polar U-Series Double Drawer Counter is an under-counter refrigeration unit with two independently controlled drawers, each capable of operating as a fridge, a freezer, or one of each simultaneously. Built in stainless steel and rated to climate class 5, it is engineered to hold stable temperatures in hot kitchen environments where ambient temperatures can climb to 43°C — a condition that disqualifies many lighter-duty units from safe use on the cookline.

Both drawers use forced-air cooling, which means temperature recovery after frequent access remains consistent throughout a busy service. Each drawer accepts two full-size 1/1 GN pans, giving four pan positions in total. Because each drawer is controlled independently, the configuration can be adjusted to match whatever the service demands — split fridge-freezer for a standard prep station, both drawers chilled for a pastry section, or both frozen during high-volume prep shifts. That adaptability is genuinely useful in kitchens where storage requirements shift between services or as menus change seasonally.

Practically speaking, the unit offers a number of operational advantages:

• Independent temperature zones on each drawer, adjustable without affecting the other
• Full 1/1 GN compatibility across all four pan positions, aligning with standard cookline organisation
• Forced-air cooling maintains consistent temperatures during high-frequency drawer access
• Castors fitted as standard, supporting cleaning routines and repositioning on the floor
• Stainless steel throughout, standing up to daily cleaning without surface deterioration

At 113kg, this unit requires careful planning before installation. Castors give practical manoeuvrability on a level surface, but access routes, doorway widths, and floor thresholds should all be confirmed in advance. No specialist drainage connection is required under normal operation, though the electrical supply should be verified as suitable before the unit goes in. The R290 refrigerant charge is modest, and the unit carries a climate class 5 rating, making it appropriate for kitchens that run hot by design.

This unit is well suited to small-to-medium restaurant, café, and pub kitchens where a single under-counter position needs to cover both chilled and frozen storage close to the prep or pass area. It works best where GN compatibility with adjacent cookline equipment is important and where moderate drawer access frequency is the norm. For higher-volume operations with more intensive daily use or greater GN storage demands, a heavier-duty multi-drawer configuration may be worth considering.

If you would like to talk through whether this unit fits your counter run, service pattern, or kitchen layout, our team are glad to help before you make a decision.
